How SocioDesign Built a Calm Website for Rambling Muse

Rambling Muse is a lifestyle publication created by writer Clarisse Lehmann. She has lived in New York, Geneva, Tokyo, Madrid, and London. Her writing looks at city life from an outsider's point of view. She asked London agency SocioDesign to create its identity and website. The team chose a calm style instead of a busy blog with many advertisements.

The identity includes an owl symbol made from simple geometric shapes. It reflects a writer who watches city life with curiosity at night. SocioDesign also created a collection of thin, simple line drawings. These appear in sections called Go, Linger, and Get. They show everyday city objects, including coffee cups and cocktail glasses. Other drawings show landmarks such as Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower.

The colors help the pictures and writing stand out clearly. Soft pink and warm, pale backgrounds sit behind dark gray text. Photographs add stronger differences between light and dark across the pages. The drawings give the publication a warm feeling without adding visual noise. Together, these choices create character while keeping the reading experience calm.

The website does not place everything in one long, fixed column. It uses a grid, a structure for arranging different content blocks. Some blocks hold tall building photographs, while others hold wide food pictures. Round shapes display selected quotes beside these different picture formats. Empty space around the blocks helps separate the different pieces of content.

The page also changes to fit the reader's screen size. On desktop, a simple menu stays in place beside the content. On mobile, the blocks move into a layout made for smaller screens. Different text sizes help readers see which information is most important. The result brings the publication's visual identity and reading experience together.
